Good 2nd half performance to maintain unbeaten start to season

Match day at Oakwell Academy and the Reds play host to @chorleyfc_women supported by Rotherham Whitehall U12s.
Warm up under way
Drew Greene returns to the starting 11, and it’s a first place in the 15 for Betty Cheetham after impressing in the Reserves.

Only 4 min gone and the ball is played through to Darcie Greene, sponsored by iVision, in the box who calmly puts the ball in the back of the net! 1-0 Reds.
12' some good interplay between Hannah Campbell and Kathryn Smith on the edge of the Chorley box.
14' There's a brief stoppage in play as Chorley 3 goes off injured. Iit's not too serious.
15' Chorley get a free kick on the edge of the box. They hit it on target but Bethan Davies makes a comfortable save. Still 1-0.
20' Equiliser for Chorley. The ball is played over the Reds defence and the striker finishes at the near post. 1-1.
22' After some good build up play on the left, Drew Greene cuts inside and gets a shot away. It goes just wide of the post. Still 1-1
24' Chorley Substitution, another injury for Chorley. Their 16 goes off and is replaced by number 2.
28' Drew Greene picks the ball up in her own half and drives through 2 challenges. She tries to find Hannah Campbell but her through ball has too much on it and rolls out for a goal kick.
32' The ball falls kindly for Kathryn Smith who hits it on the half volley. Her effort goes over the bar.
38' Free kick on the right side of the box. Sophie Crosby to take it. Her effort goes over and doesn't trouble the keeper. Still 1-1.
44' The Reds have the ball in the back of the net, however it’s been ruled out for a ‘push’ from Sophie Bell.
HALF-TIME | It's all square at the break after a competitive first 45 minutes. 1-1

49' It’s 2-1 Reds and it’s Darcie Greene with her second of the afternoon.
Great hold up play by twin sister Drew, but Darcie was the one who eventually got the shot away. It’s deflected, but they all count! 2-1.
60' Reds’ first sub of the afternoon sees Lindsey Tugby replace Jorden Spurr.
66' Good play from Chorley works an opening, but Becks Hornsey and Kathryn Smith do enough to smother the danger.
67' Reds substitution Lissa Woodhouse replaces Hannah Campbell.
68' A Chorley free kick in a dangerous position sends Bethan Davies scrambling across the goal, but it whistles wide of the post.
73' A Reds free kick is cleared, and the resulting corner is eventually cleared too.
76' Good forward play from the Reds. Lissa Woodhouse and Kathryn Smith link up, before Drew Greene has a powerful shot saved by the keeper.
79'Sophie Crosby intercepts and hits one from distance - it’s saved.
80' Betty Cheetham, coming on for her first senior appearance, replaces Drew Greene.
83' Kathryn Smith hits a half volley from distance whilst travelling, it goes over.
87' What a save that was to deny Darcie Greene her hat-trick. Cross comes in, Betty Cheetham gets a flick, Darcie forces a great save from the keeper one on one.
90' Corner from the left and Lindsey Tugby is flicked on. It falls to Becks Hornsey, sponsored by Sports therapy 4 you, who puts into the far corner from 18 yards.

FULL TIME | Reds 3-1 @chorleyfc_women
By all means, not a straightforward afternoon, but in the end, the Reds had more than enough to record the win.
Goals from Darcie Greene (x2) and Becks Hornsey wrap up the victory.
After opening the scoring, and then putting the Reds back ahead early in the second half, your @GauntletInsure Player of the Match was... Darcie Greene.

After the game Manager Chris Hamilton with his reaction “It was a really good second half performance.”

We’ve absolutely loved having Rotherham United Whitehill U12 Girls at training on Wednesday and down as our mascots today. Thank you and good luck with your season.
