Barnsley Women FC vs Stockport County Ladies FC

We welcomed newly promoted Stockport County Ladies to Oakwell along with our mascots for the day from AFC Pogmoor on a lovely afternoon on Oakwell Academy.

Kickoff:
2' After a quick counter attack from the Reds, Amy Woodruff is played in and gets her shot away. She is denied by a good save
7' A powerful header from a Stockport County player is matched by a fingertip save from Bethan Davies.
12' Amy Woodruff picks the ball up about 25 yards out and drives through the Stockport defence. Her shot is blocked by a defender and it rolls safely to the keeper.
19' When a Stockport effort is hit straight down the middle onto goal Bethan Davies is called into action again.
20' What a finish! After some good pressure from the Reds, Lissa Woodhouse, sponsored by Gauntlet calmly slots the ball under the keeper to make it 1-0.
30' Rebecca Hornsey hits a good shot from distance but the keeper makes a good save to keep it at 1-0.
38' Stockport County play a lovely through ball behind our defence but Annie Ward is quick on the cover and marshalls the ball safely back to Bethan Davies.
HALF TIME A competitive half, with chances for both sides, see's the Reds 1-0 up after a great finish from Lissa Woodhouse.

49' A good start to the second half from the Reds. Drew Greene's curling effort from the edge of the area tests the Stockport County keeper.
61' Goal for Stockport County. Their number 9 converts from a cross to make it 1-1.
69' The Reds have reacted well after conceding a goal. Drew Greene gets on the end of a cross and heads it past the keeper. 2-1.
73' Two quickly becomes Three as Annie Ward pokes the ball home after a scramble in the 6 yard box. 3-1.
84' Penalty to the Reds as Sophie Crosby fires it into the bottom corner. 4-1
88' Goal for Stockport County. 4-2.
