A lovely winters day greeted the teams for this 1st home game of 2019. Barnsley get the game under way.
5 min first chance falls to Barnsley, confusion between the CLS defender and keeper leads to the ball falling to Darcie Greene 18 yards out but her first time effort goes wide left.
7 min Sophie Crosby hits a lovely corner in that beats every one but not the crossbar.
8 min another chance for Barnsley as nice play between Sophie Bell and Kathryn Smith who plays in Amy Woodruff to shoot strongly but straight at the keeper.
12 min corners are looking dangerous today with Sophie Crosby causing all sorts of problems for the CLS Keeper and defenders who only just manage to clear their lines.
13 min it's all Barnsley. A one two between Kathryn Smith and Drew Greene leads to Kathryn Smith firing just wide from 18 yards.
22 min a bit of panic at the back for Barnsley with appeals for a free kick which didn't come for CLS who couldn't craft an opportunity before the offside flag went up.
24 min Barnsley corner after a storming run from the back by Sophie Bell leads to a shot from Danielle Whitham which is pushed away by the keeper. Annie Ward meets the cross strongly but just wide.
28 min Amy Woodruff is too strong for the CLS defender, she snatched the ball and plays Sophie Bell down the right but her pull back needed a Barnsley touch but non coming.
31 min Rebecca Hornsey sees her free kick tipped onto the crossbar from 25 yards out by the keeper.
32 min Drew Greene is allowed too much time, not closed down and on the 18 yard line she picks her spot int he bottom right corner 1-0 Barnsley.
38 min it's nearly two as Drew Greene looks to feed off scraps when Sophie Bell plays a lovely ball through into the penalty area. The keeper doesn't deal with it but with Drew lurking she claims it at the second attempt.
43 min miscommunication at the back when Skye Kirkham comes out to claim but Lucy Turner tries to clear only booting it up in the area, but Skye catches it under pressure.
Half time it's been a mostly dominant half from Barnsley but only a 1 goal lead at the break.
Chester le Street get the 2nd half under way following a substitution.
48 min First chance falls to Barnsley as tricky play by Drew Greene allows her to play the ball into the area to Kathryn Smith who lays it back to Darcie Greene to shoot from 18 yards out but the keeper gathers it in.
50 min more good play from Drew Greene down the right as she tricks her way into the box to poke it from a tight angle, but not good enough to trouble the keeper.
52 min Sophie Bell breaks down the right to cross into the middle where Kathryn Smith hits goal wards only to see the keeper make a smart low save to tip round the post.
56 min half chance for CLS but the attack lazily drags wide from 20 yards. No trouble though for Skye Kirkham
57 min changes for both teams with Kathryn Smith replaced by Lissa Woodhouse.
60 min cross from the left is agonisingly close to Sophie Bell turning it home at the back post.
62 min close again when Drew Greene broke down the right, pulling it back for Amy Woodruff who hit it first time just the wrong side of the post.
65 min Mollie Crump comes on to replace Drew Greene

75 min Danielle Whitham makes a storming run down the left and feeds Darcie Greene, she darts towards towards the left hand side of the box before being fouled right on the edge.
77 min Chester le Street substitution sees 7 replaced by 15.
80 min more good play from Danielle Whitham who feeds Mollie Crump on the edge of the area to turn beautifully, make space and shoot just over.
82 min Danielle Whitham is substituted with Shannon Durkin coming on.
85 min Sophie Bell breaks down the right into space, she plays square to Shannon Durkin who hits it first time but straight at the keeper
87 min a recycled free kick sees Amy Woodruff try a speculative effort from 25 yards out which was not too far away.
88 min 30 yards out free kick and Sophie Crosby tries to catch everyone by surprise with a shot just over the bar instead of a cross.
