An early start from Oakwell as the team and supporters boarded the Yorkshire Rose coach in the sunshine, but as we entered Lancashire the skies darkened and the traffic got heavier. Eventually after navigating the backstreets of Crewe we arrived at the Cumberland Stadium.
Barnsley FC ladies came out in their away blue strip sponsored by Cawa Coffee. Then Lucy Turner won the toss so Crewe Alexandria kicked off in Red and white.

2 min Darcie Greene crossed in from the left wing behind Lissa Woodhouse but Sophie Bell came in at back post to shoot straight at the goal keeper.
3 min Sophie Bell passed into Drew Greene who took it up the right wing before crossing into Kathryn Smith at edge of the penalty area, she smashed it goal wards but it was blocked by the face of Crewe No5, ouch!
8 min from a central position Kathryn Smith played through into right wing channel Sophie Bell chased down to cross it was blocked away for a corner which Rebecca Hornsey took and the goal keeper gathered.
9 min Mollie Crump played down left wing into Lissa Woodhouse, she crossed into Drew Greene and her shot blocked away for a Barnsley throw from which they won a corner, but an attempted shot from it was sliced by Amy Woodruff into the goal keeper.
11 min Barnsley throw in on left wing was held up by Amy Woodruff then played back to Lissa Woodhouse, her cross turned into a shot as it went just wide of the right hand upright covered by the keeper all the way.
12 min Barnsley corner after good work from Lissa Woodhouse was cleared. But Amy Woodruff recovered the ball and drove down the right wing to win a throw from which Kathryn Smith crossed into Lissa Woodhouse but the keeper plucked it off her head.
14 min Drew Greene sped down right wing to cross into Kathryn Smith but she sliced her shot wide.
15 min Sophie Bell attacked down right wing then crossed ‎into Amy Woodruff who played square into Lissa Woodhouse. Crewe No2 made a last ditch lung to block her shot and send it sailing over the crossbar for a corner that was hit straight out of play.
21 min Lucy Turner cleared up the right wing where Kathryn Bell broke the off side, but No6 slid across to clear out for a corner. Mollie Crump flicked on at the front post and the Crewe keeper reacted fast to push onto the crossbar, it fell to Annie Ward but she pushed her shot wide of left hand post.
25 min a Barnsley cross from Drew Greene ‎fell to Amy Woodruff whose shot was blocked by No5 who stayed down. She was carried off and replaced by No12, Barnsley FC ladies send recovery wishes and hope it is nothing too serious.
26 min Darcie Greene won a foot race down the left wing against the new No12 then crossed over the top of the goal.
27 min Amy Woodruff linked with Sophie Bell whose cross was deflected out for a corner.‎ The ball which was crossed in by Rebecca Hornsey was headed by Amy Woodruff, then Annie Ward had a shot blocked then Darcie Greene’s shot was blocked by head of No3 off the line as it was heading into top right corner.
31 min saw the first free kick of the game as Rebecca Hornsey was fouled in the centre circle.
34:50 against the run of play Crewe keeper hit a long clearance forward which Skye Kirkham misjudged as it bounce up and over her as she came to gather ahead of No9 who tapped into the open goal.
38 min Lissa Woodhouse broke down the right wing to cross in for Drew Greene‎, she won a corner.
39 min goal mouth scramble led to the goal keeper flap at a cross‎ from Drew Greene, Lissa Woodhouse reacted quickly but keeper re-gathered.
40 min Amy Woodruff won the ball back on half way right wing, she charged forward before playing a one-two with Lissa Woodhouse but she shot direct at the goal keeper.
43 min Crewe were awarded a free-kick central after a foul by Rebecca Hornsey. Annie Ward calmly headed back to Skye Kirkham.
44 min Skye Kirkham goal kick was headed through by Amy Woodruff for Lissa Woodhouse to run onto but the keeper anticipated to clear.
45 min Drew Greene drove into the penalty area before squaring to Amy Woodruff, her shot was at the keeper who palmed it away and then caught the follow up shot from Darcie Greene.
47 min Kathryn Smith was fouled just outside the penalty area but Rebecca Hornsey hit the free kick over the cross bar.
48 min Half time, so much possession and chances for Barnsley FC Ladies but as yet no reward.

49 min Drew Greene broke down the right wing and into the penalty area before squaring into Lissa Woodhouse to shoot over cross bar from 6 yards out.
54:05 min Darcie Greene sped down left wing, she played inside to Kathryn Smith who passed square to Rebecca Hornsey, she threaded a ball into right side of the penalty area which Sophie Bell ran onto and fizz a cross across the goal area and Lissa Woodhouse guided into the goal at the back post ‎for the equaliser, 1-1.
58 min Skye Kirkham's clearance bounced through to Amy Woodruff, one on one with the keeper who came out to bravely clear away.
64 min Barnsley substitution : Sophie Crosby came on for Mollie Crump.
69 min Sophie Crosby headed a cross out for a Crewe corner. Annie Ward headed upwards and Skye Kirkham came out to securely gather.
71 min Darcie Greene took a shot on the run straight at the keeper.

77 min Drew Greene drove into the right side of the penalty area, her shot across goal rebounded off the left hand post, it was cleared only as far as Kathryn Smith who shot at the keeper who gathered.

80 min from a break into left side of penalty area Darcie Greene placed her shot just wide of top right corner.
82 min tactical formation change to 3-4-3 saw Barnsley win a corner which Sophie Crosby took and Lissa Woodhouse glanced in from a run across to the near post. 2-2.
86 min Amy Woodruff broke through, goal keeper blocked away and when Sophie Bell crossed the ball back in the offside flag went up against Darcie Greene‎ as she tapped home.
87 min Sophie Bell broke down the right wing again and crossed into the penalty area for Amy Woodruff sponsored by BB Motorsport to score 2-3
89 min Barnsley substitutions with Kathryn Smith coming off to be replaced by Rebecca Fevers.
90 min Drew Greene attacked and then took the ball into the corner for game management as Barnsley reverted formation back. She won a throw from which Barnsley won a corner.
93 min Emily Ward came on for Darcie Greene. At the restart Amy Woodruff played through Lissa Woodhouse centrally but her first touch was too heavy allowing time for the goal keeper to gather.
94 min Sophie Crosby swung in another corner but a free kick was awarded to Crewe for a foul on the goal keeper.
95 min Emily Ward intercepted to win the ball back, she played in Amy Woodruff up the left wing but her shot was over the crossbar.
96 min a final Sophie Crosby corner saw a Rebecca Hornsey head come back off the post.
98 min Full time whistle blew, another win for Barnsley but what a roller coaster game for all those watching.
