First win of the season for the reds and who says Women's Football is not exciting. What a game!!!

Everyone arrived on time‎ and when Steve Maddock said he had a good feeling, little did we know.
M62 was closed so all traffic wet bound was diverted through Woodhead, don't you feel sorry for the residents of Tintwhistle as it took the coach 1 hour to get through. Phone calls to the League and Liverpool Feds followed when it was clear we were seriously delayed. The team got changed, team talk completed on the coach and we finally arrived at 2.30pm the time the game should have kicked off. A quick warm up and at 2.45 the match officials and Barnsley were ready as Liverpool Feds to the field. Coin toss completed and Barnsley FC got the game underway at 2.50pm.

2 min Liverpool Feds swung in a corner from the right which Rebecca Hornsey headed clear. Sophie Bell picked up the ball and broke forward playing into Lissa Woodhouse, she squared to Drew Greene then onto Darcie Greene whose shot missed by the left hand post.
Liverpool Feds were awarded a free kick when Sophie Crosby fouled No16 it was cleared away.
7 min 30 yards out Kathryn Smith shot over the crossbar.
10 min Kathryn Smith threaded the ball through the defence for Sophie Bell to win a corner. Sophie Crosby took the corner but it was too low and cleared away.
11 min Liverpool Feds free kick was hit into the penalty area which Sophie Crosby headed clear but it came back in and Skye Kirkham caught above her head.
16 min Liverpool Feds attacked up the left wing through No 16, Annie Ward defended out, the ball went to No9 who then dribbled past Annie Ward‎, Lucy Turner came across but instead of making contact with the ball she caught the player. Penalty awarded and scored by No14 top right corner. 1-0
18 min Barnsley free kick swung in by Rebecca Hornsey was headed wide of the left post by Annie Ward.
24 min Liverpool Feds No9 was just about to shoot when Rebecca Hornsey made a goal saving tackle.
32 min Liverpool Feds No9 crossed in front of No7, she turned inside, and shot but Skye Kirkham turned it away for a corner. No7 took it short to No9 before receiving it back to shoot from the edge of the penalty area which Skye saved low at her near post.
36 min Drew Greene played a lovely ball through the Liverpool Feds defence, appeals went up for offside but these were waved away as Lissa Woodhouse broke through, ‎ before calmly slotting the ball past the keeper to score 1-1.
45 min Annie Ward switched play from left to Sophie Bell on the right deep in the penalty area, she headed into Kathryn Smith who just managed to keep it in play by looping it up‎ to the centre of the goal area where Lissa Woodhouse headed it into the net past the scrambling keeper. 1-2 Barnsley
46 min half time, ‎1-2 Barnsley Ladies FC

Officials and Barnsley were ready for restart after 10 mins with Liverpool Feds coming out a few mins later.
49 min Barnsley free kick from inside the Barnsley half with Sophie Crosby hitting it over Lissa Woodhouse but Liverpool Feds headed out for a corner, this was cleared.
52 min Rebecca Hornsey played into Lissa Woodhouse to lift it over the defence and into Kathryn Smith who was defended out but won a corner which Sophie Crosby swung in but cleared away.
54 min Barnsley substitute with Amy Woodruff coming on for Elisha James with Sophie Bell moving to right back. Change of formation to 4-1-4-1 as well with Kathryn Smith sitting into midfield.
59 min Liverpool Feds No16 forced another save out of Skye Kirkham and Rebecca Hornsey headed the corner clear.
64 min Sophie Bell threw herself into ‎2 shot blocks from No 10 and No16, but the clearance was hit back in by No8 into the top right corner of the goal from 20 yards, 2-2
68 min Lissa Woodhouse crossed in from the left to Amy Woodruff who despite scuffing the shot scored 2-3
70 min Liverpool Feds substitution
71 min Barnsley broke down the left through Darcie Greene‎ who played Lissa Woodhouse into the penalty area but her low shot was gathered by the goal keeper.
73 min Liverpool Feds free kick was played cross field ‎before being played into the box which was cleared away but hit back in by No10 into No16 who smashed it into the net despite Skye Kirkham getting her hands to it. 3-3
75 min Barnsley free kick after another foul on Lissa Woodhouse‎, Rebecca Hornsey played short to Kathryn Smith but Liverpool Feds won the ball and broke forward. Sophie Crosby covered to concede a corner which was cleared wide of the back post, Rebecca Hornsey clashed heads but was ok after treatment the corner this time was scrambled clear.
‎81min pressing Liverpool Feds in midfield paid off when Amy Woodruff received the ball and powered forward, she rode a tackle to find herself through on goal to score passed the keeper’s left hand 3-4 Barnsley.
83 min Drew Greene attacked in from the left wing, passing to Kathryn Smith who took a right foot shot which the keeper saved with a secure catch.
86 min Liverpool Feds No 9 was cautioned for a foul tackle.
88 min Lissa Woodhouse was through in the left wing channel when she was hauled down, jumping up she pushed the tackler away, Cautions for both players.
From the free kick though the assistant Referee saw pulls on the Barnsley players as they went to attack the cross. Penalty awarded which Kathryn Smith scored inside the left hand post. 3-5 Barnsley.
91 min Drew Greene was fouled by Liverpool Feds No5 who was cautioned.
94 min Liverpool Feds free kick just inside the Barnsley half with Barnsley substitution with‎ Kathryn Smith replaced by Rebecca Fevers, but the referee allowed the restart half way through the substitution. At next stoppage of play Rebecca Fevers was cautioned for entering field of play without permission, even though the Asst had told her to go on.
95min Liverpool Feds crossed upto the Barnsley area into No16 who had been their class player throughout, she shot into top left leaving Skye Kirkham no chance. 4-5.
96 min full time and Barnsley have their first win of the league season.
