Barnsley FC Ladies kicked off with a slight change in the defensive line with Darcie Greene at right back and Laura Windle at left back. In the absence of Abby Parkin the Captains armband was handed to Danielle Lowe.
After 3 mins Laura Windle released Holly Findlay up the left wing, she cut inside and switch the ball to Darcie Greene wide right who laid it inside to Danielle Lowe. She swung a cross into the goal area just out of reach of Demi Pringle who was racing to reach it as the Morecambe goal keeper was unsure whether to come out for the cross or leave it. Positive start by Barnsley
8 mins from a Morecambe throw deep in their half they tried to play the ball across the back line but a miss kick allowed Holly Findlay to intercept to take a shot from the edge of the penalty area just wide.
10 mins Morecambe attacked down their left wing before switching to the midfielder who superbly hit a shot into the top left corner of the Barnsley goal from 25 yards with Laura Wilson rooted, 0-1.
15 mins another long shot attempt by Morecambe which this time tipped over the cross bar by Laura Wilson and the resulting corner cleared
17 mins Morecambe slid a through ball into the Barnsley goal area but Kristie Ward was alert to it, sliding across to concede a corner ahead of their striker.
19 min Nikki Hogg managed to get her foot in to concede a corner and break up the Morecambe attack. The corner was swung in from the left and headed down and goal bound, but Laura Wilson managed to get down and push it towards the right hand post where Laura Windle was unable to react quickly enough to stop it crossing the goal line. 0-2 Morecambe
24 mins Drew Green drove strongly into the Morecambe penalty area riding three challenges, before losing the ball. Morecambe broke quickly and Laura Wilson was called into action making a low save to hold a shot headed for the left corner.
28 mins Drew Greene threaded a ball through to Demi Pringle, she was dispossessed with the ball falling to Darcie Greene who played in Danielle Lowe whose long shot went wide
31 mins from a Morecambe ball over the top of the Barnsley defence their No7 tried a cheeky lob, with Laura Wilson back peddling, she managed to tip onto the cross bar with Laura Windle clearing away
38 mins Nikki Hogg swung in a lovely free kickball to the back post which was met by Demi Pringle, unfortunately only into the side netting.
40 mins the Referee screamed advantage as Drew Greene was released down the right wing, taking the ball into the penalty area and with the goal keeper advancing she shot just wide of the right hand upright.

At the start of the second half Barnsley set up with Laura Windle at right back and Darcie Greene in her usual left back position.
48mins Drew Greene in from the right wing threaded the ball through to Holly Findlay who had made a lovely run through the Morecambe defence evading the offside trap, on her second touch the ball just bounce away from her allowing a relieved Morecambe keeper to pick up. Encouraging start by Barnsley to 2nd half.
49mins Morecambe broke away down the left wing, squaring the ball centrally and shooting, Laura Wilson saved and Kristie Ward cleared
51mins Rebecca Fevers, exploits a small crack in the Morecambe defence to get her shot away just over the cross bar.

75 mins Amy Woodruff broke through the Morecambe defence and played in Drew Greene, but the defenders recovered to clear.
76 mins Morecambe attacked down the right wing, but Darcie Greene showed solid patient defending to jockey and halt the attack before stabbing the ball away for a Morecambe throw, from which a goal bound shot was saved by the legs of Laura Wilson as she came quickly off her line as the attacked closed in on goal.
79 mins Amy Woodruff linked up with Laura Windle to receive the ball back to cross into Demi Pringle who put it into the goal, but the flag was up for a goal kick with the ball just out before the cross.
81 Anna Cairns brought the ball infield and played out to Drew Greene on the right, she played inside to Amy Woodruff to shoot just wide of the left post.
84 mins Danielle Lowe limped off with a knee injury having been caught earlier in a tackle which looked like a foul that the Referee waved play on to. Drew Greene taking over the captaincy.
85 Demi Pringle managed get to the goal line to cross into Amy Woodruff whose header looped towards the goal, but dealt with by the Morecambe goal keeper.
88 Kristie Ward free kick was met by Anna Cairns at the left goal post to set up Demi Pringle to score inside the right post 1-4
90 mins Kristie Ward lost the ball just inside the Barnsley half and Morecambe broke forward, with Georgina Wilson covering across to pressure the Morecambe player as she shot, Laura Wilson was able to save onto the left post and Rebecca Fevers had raced back and was able to clear the rebound off the goal line.
Final score 1-4 to Morecambe Ladies FC, it hadn’t been Barnsley’s best performance of the season, but credit goes to Morecambe who worked hard to get players behind the ball when Barnsley were in possession and players forward when they were on the attack. Barnsley had created a few half chances but today was not a day when these were converted or on target enough to build sustained pressure on the opposition. Concern over injury to Danielle, wishing her a speedy recovery.
