After a couple of wet days the warm up area was particularly squelchy but the pitch looked good as the floodlights warmed up and spectators took their seats.
Barnsley FC Ladies kicked off in their Red kit against a Brighouse Town Ladies who were undefeated since their last meet 3 weeks ago at Sheerien Park when Brighouse won 0-3, so another tough game.
It was Brighouse who after 4 mins threatened with a free-kick from the edge of their penalty area was hit almost up to the Barnsley penalty area, Laura Shepherd getting her head to it first glancing it back towards Laura Wilson, the Brighouse town centre forward nipped in between them but Laura Shepherd recovered well to shield her out to the right hand side. But she managed to get ½ yard and cross to the back post where the Brighouse left wing Becky Kendall sprinted in on the defenders blindside to toe poke into the net. 1-0.
6 mins Brighouse threaded the ball through the Barnsley defence to offside shouts, not given, but the low shot was saved by Laura Shepherd with her legs.
9 mins Drew Greene tracked the Brighouse wing back No3 as she looped around, Emily Ward managed to nick the ball and find Kristie Ward who cleared up to Demi Pringle. Emily Ward continued her run up the right wing, receiving the ball from Demi Pringle she exploited the space before crossing back to Demi Pringle to hit wide.

24 Laura Shepherd picked up the ball in the Barnsley half, she played to Emily Ward in the right back area who played a one- two with Drew Greene, driving into the Brighouse half she crossed to Demi Pringle central on the edge of the Brighouse penalty area, who fashioned ½ yard and shot on the half volley low into the bottom left hand corner to equalise against her former club.
26 Brighouse tried a long shot which Laura Wilson pushed over and wide of the left hand post.
37 Barnsley free kick 30 yards out when Demi Pringle had her foot stood on, Kristie Ward hit it just over.
38 Brighouse broke fast before switching play from right to left wing and swinging in a cross which somehow was hit over the cross bar from close range.
43 Amy Woodruffe dribbled past two Brighouse players before playing square into Demi Pringle, but she was well marked and had nowhere to go.
44 Brighouse played a ball over to top into the left wing channel, Emily Ward chased down to put pressure on the cross and Kristie Ward slid in to concede a corner. Brighouse took it short and as their No7 tried to dribble into the penalty area with Emily Ward closely marking she went to ground, with the Referee on the spot and waved play on.

60 Demi Pringle was awarded a free kick in the Brighouse half on the left wing, Danielle Lowe floated it towards the back post where it was cleared for a Barnsley throw. Drew Greene linked up with Laura Shepherd before playing it square to Danielle Lowe to shoot, but the goal keeper caught.
