Reds 4-1 Win

It was a cold damp day with the residual early morning frost meaning the game was switched from the grass to the 4G pitch.
From the kick-off the intial passages of play saw Barnsley settling into their passing rhythm and Tynedale focussing on defence, trying to catch out Barnsley on the break.
Then in the 8th minute Kathryn Smith linked up with Amy Woodruff on the right hand side of the penalty box to get a strong shot away that the keeper managed to palm away for a corner.
From a Barnsley goal kick in the 10th min Amy Woodruff brought the ball down under control, playing it out to Brittany Sanderson on the left wing who drove inside into the penalty area beating 3 defenders before curving a shot into the top right hand corner of the goal beating the despairing diving keeper, 1-0 Barnsley.
On 12 minutes Tynedale broke through down the left wing but Bryony Hudson was quick off her line to clear the danger.
Bryony was involved again on 15 mins when she picked out Kathryn Smith in the right hand midfield channel, she found Drew Greene on the right wing who drove strongly to the goal line before putting a low ball into the path of Amy Woodruff who shot just wide.
Quick play from defence to attack on 19 mins when Rebecca Wilson found Laura Shepherd in midfield, then out to Brittany Sanderson and into Amy Woodruff whose shot was blocked out for a corner by the Tynedale defence.
On 21min Abby Parkin sent a long cross to the back post from where Brittany Sanderson played it back across goal into Drew Greene, but her shot was deflected away for another corner.
In the 22nd minute Lucy Turner cleared into Amy Woodruff who played it out to Abby Parkin, a cross field pass into Brittany Sanderson gave her 2 chances to get shots away, both blocked by solid defence.
Then after 24 minutes Danielle Lowe was shook up by a strong foul challenge. From the resulting free kick Amy Woodruff linked up with Abby Parkin to cross goal wards, but it was headed out for a corner.
Receiving the ball in midfield on 30 mins Kathryn Smith threaded a ball through the Tynedale defence which was chased down by Amy Woodruff who manage to play it square into Drew Greene whose shot avoided the diving keeper, but was cleared by a defender on the line.
Changes on 31 mins with Amy Woodruff and Kathryn Smith making way for Holly Findlay and Rebecca Fevers. They made an instant impact when Emily Ward won the ball at left back, picking out Rebecca Fevers she slid the ball through the defence into the path of Holly Findlay, picking out Drew Greene racing into the penalty area to shoot and score. 2-0 Barnsley.
Barnsley went close again on 36 mins, this time on the break with Drew Greene picking out the run of Holly Findlay, who got to the ball ahead of the goal keeper, rounding her before squaring the ball into Rebecca Fevers to head goal wards but again cleared by defenders on the line.
Tynedale were working hard at defence, not giving the Barnsley players a moment on the ball by closing down and nibbling, managing to disrupt the Barnsley passing.
From a Bryony Hudson throw out on 42mins to Brittany Sanderson, she found Rebecca Fevers, passing onto Holly Findlay then back to Brittany who drove at the defence and won a corner.
The final attack of the half saw Brittany Sanderson dancing past 3 Tynedale defenders before crossing across the goal to Drew Greene who pulled it back into the Penalty D from where Rebecca Fevers shot just wide.

46th minute and Tynedale broke down the left, playing the ball into No 9 who drove into the penalty area, Rebecca Wilson was alert but slid across taking the ball and the player, penalty awarded and well taken sending Bryony Hudson the wrong way in the Barnsley goal, 2-1.
52 minutes gone and Rebecca Fevers played the ball into Drew Greene who crossed into the Brittany Sanderson beating a defender but not the keeper, from the resulting corner Abby Parkin took with Drew Greene who played a one two with Rebecca Fevers before attempting a narrow angle shot which the keeper saved at her near post.
With Darcie Greene playing in midfield she was able to link up with Drew who drove into the right hand corner before pulling the ball back to Abby Parkin whose cross was met my Holly Findlay winning yet another Barnsley corner in the 54th minute.
From a snuffed out Tynedale attack in the 57th min, Bryony Hudson threw the ball out to Rebecca Wilson, who picked out Brittany Sanderson in midfield, she threaded a ball through the defence for Holly Findlay to race onto, but it was just too heavy and the keeper got there first.
Then a minute later, Bryony’s clearance kick picked out Drew Greene, she was tackled but won the ball back quickly, passing to Abby Parkin who fired a cross across the goal mouth and just out of reach of Darcie Greene full stretch at the back post.
In the 61st minute Danielle Lowe passed out to Emily Ward out on the left, she passed it down the channel to Holly Findlay, but it was just too strong, going out for a goal kick. But Barnsley won the ball back quickly and just outside the Tyndale penalty area Brit Sanderson and a Tynedale defender slide into a 50/50 challenge, advantage shouted the referee as the ball bounced away into the path of Holly Findlay who instinctively hit the shot over the keeper into the top RH corner of the Net. But the offside flag was up, no goal, but the free kick was awarded which the Goal keeper easily caught.
66th minute and Drew Greene made way for Amy Woodruff.
69th min Emily Ward passed out of defence to Brittany Sanderson, she drove towards the goal line but was well defended by 2 Tynedale defenders so she dribble back out managing to create enough space to get a cross away which was met by the head of Holly Findlay, just wide.
Gaps were starting to appear in the Tynedale tiring defensive performance as Kathryn Smith came back on for Rebecca Fevers after 70 minutes.
74 minutes gone and a long throw from Bryony Hudson found Darcie Greene who was closed down by the keeper saving well only to see the ball ricochet into path of Amy Woodruff to pass it into the back of the Net, 3-1 Barnsley.
81st minute and defensive changes for Barnsley with both Abby Parkin and Emily Ward making way for Georgina Wilson and Melissa Cole
85th minute Kathryn Smith played the ball through to Amy Woodruff, she squared the ball to Brittany Sanderson to score her second goal, 4-1 Barnsley.
88 minutes gone and Melissa Cole crossed into the box, it was met by Holly Findlay to shoot just wide.
In the closing minutes of the game Holly Findlay picked out Amy Woodruff whose first time shot was saved by the keeper and then cleared by the defender, but the ball was picked up by Amy Woodruff who tried again, this time the defender sliced a clearance, the goal keeper managed to get her right hand to it diving low to her right clearing away the ball for a corner.
Final action of the match saw Barnsley on the attack again, winning a throw deep in the Tynedale half. Georgina Wilson threw the ball to Amy Woodruff who managed to get a cross into the box, but it was cleared by the Tynedale defence once more.
Final whistle Barnsley Ladies 4 – Tynedale Ladies 1.
Next week quarter final of the SGP Graves & Thorncliffe County cup and a match against Millmoor Junior Ladies FC.
