A few enforced changes for Craige Richardson saw starts for Olivia Richardson and Jemima Jarvis, as well as a debut for academy product Gracie McGregor.
A positive start from the Reds with some good openings, with Jodie Snelson, Jemima Jarvis and Paige linking up well on the left, with Jodie putting a great ball in the box which just missed the oncoming attackers.
The deadlock was broken in the 12th minute as great work from the back resulted in Snelson beating the offside trap and teeing it up perfectly for Jarvis who cooly slotted the ball home from close range for her first goal for Barnsley.
From then it was a completely dominant performance with chances being created by the Reds, including a long range effort from Maisie Norde.
In the 22nd minute, some great work down the left resulted in Paige Crossman being in on goal, with the second of the attempts smashing the post.
More neat, intricate play resulted in another chance, this time for Becks Hornsey, whose headed effort was collected by the visitors goalkeeper.
From then on, it became chance, after chance, after chance with Olivia Richardson and Jodie Snelson creating chances to make it 2-0.
One moment of brilliance saw Snelson bamboozle the centre back with a flick which sent her in behind and the resulting effort blazed over.
This spell of dominance was rewarded when, in the 41st minute Jodie Snelson bundled the ball in after a scramble near the box, suffering a black eye in the process.
Half Time- Barnsley WFC 2-0 Lincoln City
The second half started much like the first, with the Reds establishing more possession, more dominance, and more chances. Special mention to Becks Hornsey who traded dignitaries with the linesman after what looked like a baffling goal kick decision.
In the 62nd minute the scoreline became much more reflective of the way the game was as a free kick from Snelson was brilliantly slotted into the bottom left hand corner of the goal (right hand if you are behind the goal).
This resulted in the first replacement of the game with Rosie Axten replacing Misty Russell.
The change in personnel did not change the Reds foothold of the game and in the 66th minute Snelson made it 4-0 and claimed a hat-trick in the process, with a smart finish, rounding the keeper and slotting it home.
Further changes came for the Reds with Maya Schofield, Daniella Kraycheva coming on.
Still the chances came and the law of averages came good in the 80th minute when a great corner from Jarvis was met by the impressive Lou McCreadie, who headed home for her first senior goal to make it 5-0.
This resulted in the fourth and final substitution of the day with Lauren Richardson coming on to replace the brilliant Vice-Captain Becks Hornsey.
The game ended with the Reds continuing to dominate and play the ball around, with a couple of openings and chances to make it 6.
The game ended, but not without a yellow card awarded to Paige for being very diplomatic with her disagreement with the referee.
Overall, a great result, bouncing back from the disappointment of Thursday and taking 6 points from the last 3 games.
More minutes in the tank for the squad, a debut, some great football played, and into the top half for the Reds.
Something to build on as we take on Northampton Town away next Sunday, the 6th October.
