Emily Pierreponts hat-trick in a 6-0 win leaves Barnsley top of the league, heading into the new year.

After the previous two weeks games being postponed due to poor weather The Reds travelled to Manchester having not played in a month so could be forgiven for starting a little slow, with there being very little action in the opening thirty minutes of a game they came into as overwhelming favourites.

But when Charlotte Stuart won a foul deep in United of Manchesters half it gave Csomor a chance to whip in an excellent delivery and it was slid home at the near post by Autumn Housley for her first goal of the season, to give Barnsley the lead. It would only take two minutes after that for Barnsley to find another one, this time through Emily Pierrepont who cut in on her right foot to rifle a shot into the top right hand corner.

Barnsley headed into the break two up having not played there best football of the season.

And they wouldn't have to wait long for there third, when Housecroft was well positioned to score from a Pierrepont cutback in the third minute of the second half.

Chances continued to come and we continued to dominate possession for the next twenty minutes, with opportunities falling to Marshall, Pierrepont and newly introduced Jex-Oldfield.

It would however be Alayna Millard who got our fourth with twenty minutes to go. She showed good composure to bring the ball down and finish calmly past Donald, who it must be said stopped it form being double digits today with some fantastic saves

Similarly to the first half one goal bought another and only minutes later Biggins, off the bench, found space down the right and fired the ball across the face of the goal for Emily Pierrepont to finish and double her goal tally for the day. And that wouldn't be her last, in the dying minutes of the game Barnsley broke again and Charlotte Stuart slipped Pierrepont in and she rounded the keeper well to complete a fantastic hat-trick.

The 6-0 win meant that Barnsley returned to the top of the table going into Christmas and another clean sheet means that after ten games into the season we have only conceded three goals!
