Yesterday we were away versus Leeds United Women FC First away at their home ground, yet the game was unfortunately not in our favour...
The starting whistle is blown and from the off we were on the attack with good efforts from all including Myles, Biggins and Marsden respectively.
At 24 minutes our women's keeper Clarke amazingly keeps the ball from the back of the net with a double! The play continues clean and well executed from end to end.
36 minutes in we concede as Leeds convert a corner. 1-0 Leeds. This gives Barnsley the motivation to perform and GOOOOAAAAAL!!!! Nat Watson equalises with a screamer from 30 yards! We are back in it and are keeping Leeds on their toes as the half time whistle is is blown.
From the start of the second half we keep the Leeds keeper involved in play as we focus all efforts toward goal, including a brilliant run from Biggins again.
With the play focused on ending it in the box we lapse in concentration at the back and it is in fact Leeds who create another goal. 3-1 to Leeds 10 minutes in to the second half.
An unfortunate series of events ensue, including Biggins being sent off at 81 minutes for a terrible second yellow card offence. From then on the play is jolted and although determination is shown by our ladies it is clear the play is in no where near in their favour.
A good game to watch between the Yorkshire rivals, however Leeds had the edge and walked away with the win.
We go again.
Come on you reds!!!!
