After the pitch was passed fit to play today at the home grounds in Barnsley the girls were hoping to achieve a similar win to that of last week against Norton and Stockton Ancients, however a 2-2 draw was the result written on the score sheet.
Within the first 10 minutes our Barnsley Women's First XI team had the majority of the ball, with a few good plays but had nothing showing for their hard work however quickly after that at 11 minutes Eva Marshall scores an absolute screamer outside the box into the right top corner of the net, completely untouched by the Norton Stockton keeper! Barnsley have the lead with 1- 0 giving Watson and Biggins both the confidence to have shots on the keeper within the next few plays.
At 38 minutes Pierrepont has a free kick which soars over the defensive line but evades the back of the net as the keeper gets her hands on it.
Half time comes to call and Barnsley Women's FC are in the lead with Norton and Stockton having not managed to get any goals. The girls are ahead and its time to continue their winning streak and replicate last weeks play.
Second half comes underway and 5 minutes in.... GOALLLLLL!!!! Brook Marsden makes it 2-0 to BWFC ! The girls are creating an even bigger lead and the confidence continues to grow as they work their way down the pitch with more attacks on goal. With Hurdiss and Csomor now on for Beck and Pierrpont, Hurdiss gets a brilliant play from Watson and Marsden but to no avail. Still the score remains 2-0 Barnsley.
Half way through the second half Norton scores a penalty, making it 2-1...and within the last few minutes of extra time Owens equalises for Norton and Stockton Ancients and the score finalises as 2-2.
A change in result since last week where we won against the side 6-0, however a good result leaving us at 3rd and giving us a total of 33 points on the table; continuing our 'no loss' streak.
The Barnsley Women are back on the pitch in two days time versus Hull City Ladies Firsts under the Tuesday Night Lights AT 19:45! A great way to spend time with the family and an even better way to show support to our First XI...!
