Travelling away today to Doncaster our Barnsley women fought with aggression and spirit in today's Semi Final of the Cup. With both clubs knowing the stakes of the game it was going to be tough 90 minutes which the women pushed through until the end.

First half begins as we defend with precision and structure... we kept off the attacks from the Doncaster Belles, who found it tough to find the back of the net with a few near misses at the Iqbal Poultry grounds.

On a ravenous attack at 26 minutes there was a big cause for Barnsley to have a penalty, unfortunately it was shook off by the ref. Big missed opportunity for Barnsley and an even bigger let off for the Belles.

As we continue through the first half neither team let up their attacks and the fiercely competitive game remains goalless with neither side giving an inch.

An unfortunate third corner in succession against us meant a goal for the Belles who tirelessly pressured Barnsley defence, managing to slip it through between players into the net.

Half time came and gave Barnsley women's a moment to recuperate and come back fighting after a competitive and fast first half. With the Belles having the upper hand our ladies knew to come back out strong for the fight to enter the final of the cup.

A chance at a corner at 68 minutes doesn't produce any outcomes as we can't seem to find contact with a player in the box, and a shot on target a few minutes later offers up hope however Doncaster keeper collects the ball comfortably. Barnsley are pushing for the equaliser and continuing to attack up the pitch whilst also managing the Belles as they attempt to play on the breaks.

At 90 mins with added time it was very very tense with Barnsley doing everything in their power to try and find the back of the net, however at full time the win went to the Doncaster Belles who now move on to the final of the cup.

A well battled game with both teams attacking and defending with determination and perseverance. The intent and commitment was there from Barnsley however an unlucky result demonstrating the closeness of the game and the ability of all players on the pitch.
