Our second pre-season game at our new home saw the visit of Durham Women U23's a young but keen team.
Durham won the Toss and decided to kick off, but it was the Red's who were quickly into their stride
6’: Big chance for Barnsley from the left side up against the goalkeeper who makes a save, rebound hit over the bar
14’: Barnsley looking assured in possession early on but lacking in clear chances
23’: GOAL! Free kick goal from 25 yards from our number 7 Emily Pierrepont, 1-0
25’: GOAL! 2 minutes later and we have another goal! Trialist A with the goal from the corner’s clearance
37’: back and forth passes between Pierrepont and Shaw results in a Shaw shot that drags just across goal
39’: Goal! 3rd for Barnsley, Shaw’s first, Pierrepont finds herself up against Durham’s on rushing keeper, she nudges it past for Shaw to strike into an empty net, 3-0
First half draws to a close, Barnsley leading 3-0
Reds get the second half underway
49’: GOAL! Foye beats the goalkeeper 1 on 1 from the left side to the left side of the goal, 4-0
66’: Tidy footwork from Shaw creates space for herself but the goalkeeper gets a hand to it and sends it our for a corner, 4-0
70’: Barnsley play the corner short, and create a new angle for a cross to the far post to Taviah Myles, who somehow hits it wide of the goal, 4-0
Full time Barnsley Women FC 4-0 Durham Women FC U23. Thank you to Durham Women for making the trip south and especially in the second half working on pressing higher up the field, reducing chances for the Reds, all the best for the Season.
Another Pre-Season game completed and the squad is starting to gel together especially through the spine of the team with Emily and Anna on the Wings providing the out balls and dangerous crosses for Nat Shaw to capitalise upon.
Next up Tuesday night Ossett Utd are the visitors who ran the Reds close in torrential conditions last time they played, so here's hoping for a drier evening fixture.
C'Mon You Reds!!
