After such a long time away it was great to see the Red's back on the Oakwell 4G. There were some new faces to the club as well as some of our Reserves making the step up.
Barnsley got the game underway but it was Farsley pressing hard in the first quarter before Reds No 11 Holly finished from the right hand side of the penalty area beating the keeper with pace of shot at the near post after 23 mins.
No 7 Emily Pierrepont needed 2 bites to score the second after the keeper had initially blocked her first shot.
The Reds third came from a Nat Watson corner from the right, which saw No 15 Becky Troake rise above keeper and defender to head firmly home.
The Farsley hit back with 2 goals in quick success from No9 on 55 mins and No8 on 57mins.
But Reds weathered this resurgence and No5 Nat Watson broke through and scored at the 2nd attempt as the keeper once again made the initial block save pushing the ball back at the midfielders feet to finish after 65 mins.
No12 Anna completed the scoring for the Reds after 67mins, smashing in from just inside the area a shot which was too strong for the keeper to hold.
The rest of the game saw chances come and go for both teams, with Farsley a couple of times breaking through but pushing shots wide of the target, and Reds Captain Taviah Myles somehow managing to put the ball over the bar from 5 yards as a cross was whipped into her feet. But the time away from the pitch was showing for both teams by the end of the game.
Overall it was a good performance for the Reds, who played with width and their midfield presence grew as the game went on.
Next up a friendly away to Ossett Utd Women on Tuesday night, once again though no spectators.
