After a four week lockdown break it was great to see Womens football grace the Oakwell Academy 4G again with this Friendly against Ossett United Ladies who play one division below in the NERWFL Premier.

Ossett United got the game underway.
4’: A good chance for Woodhouse who is 1-on-1 with the keeper but she smothers the attempt. Corner for Barnsley!
5’: Tugby whips in a lovely ball but it is nodded just over the bar. 0-0.
8’: Greene drills one but it can smacks the post and stays OUT! The press is working well.
11’: Mix up between goalkeeper and centreback as Ossett muster up their first real chance, but they can’t quite get the shot off.
14’: GOAL 1-0! Boyes sends it long and Woodhouse flicks it on to Greene, who made the inverted run and keeps composed to beat the Ossett GK.
17’: Ossett’s forward seized upon a BWFC error but fires over. 1-0.
18’: Boyes gets down low to palm out for a corner.
20’: Ossett stronghold as they take their fourth corner in quick succession and Boyes holds - amongst a crowded penalty area.
25: Changes as Amy Nowell is replaced by Niamh Ryalls
25’: A free kick reaches Greene who makes amends on her initial control and comes in, fires it goalwards but it hits the woodwork - this time bar! Close! 1-0.
28’: An audacious effort from the Ossett striker loops just past the back post.
32’: Woodhouse yet again showing her strength to win the free kick and get her side up the pitch.
34’: Csomor chases onto her own touch from a Woodhouse ball into the box and she seizes on a mix-up for Ossett. 2-0!
39’: A bit of a scramble following a strong Boyes palm. It’s now out for a corner to the away side! Just over 5 mins until the interval.
44’: Woodhouse finds some rare space, turns towards goal and hits from 25 yards, beating the goalkeeper to make it 3-0!
HALF TIME! 3-0 at the break. With player refreshments from Wowhydrate

Reds get the second half underway! Three changes of note for this half as Micha Boyes is replaces by Sarah Horrocks in net, Eden Schofield for Lindsay Tugby as well as Maddison Foye replacing Darcie Greene.
48’: Smith picks out an exquisite ball over the top and some build-up play finds its way to Woodhouse, who can only fire over!
54’: Terrier-like work from Csomor & Woodhouse as they lead the press and force Ossett into mistakes. Fabulous energy!
55’: And just like that it’s 4-0 to Barnsley. Foye gets on the scoresheet!
57’: A dangerous cross from the Ossett left winger and there’s confusion between Reds goalkeeper and centre back, but it runs through for a goal kick.
59’: 5-0! Reds win it high up and Csomor is slipped in, passing it into the goal with great composure.
60’: Horrocks comes out to throw herself on the ball and deny Ossett of a quick goal back.
61': Louisa Baraclough is replaced by Darcie Greene with Maddison Foye dropping to left back.
65’: Some sustained pressure from the away side, but Reds keep it out. 5-0.
66’: A let off for BWFC as Ossett take advantage of a defensive mistake and fizz a ball across the six yard line, but the Ossett Captain is not quite tall enough and can’t get a toe on it.
66': Captain Kath Smith hands over the armband to Lindsay Tugby and Elisha James replaced by Becky Troake as they step out of the action
69’: Woodhouse picks her spot from this 25 yard free kick but it’s too central as the goalkeeper keeps hold of it.
72’: Some fortune for the away side as Foye’s in-swinging free kick is pushed onto the post and there’s nobody in red to follow up!
74': Nat Watson is substituted for Lois Daniels
79’: Woodhouse once again central to the link-up play, but she can only find the goalkeeper with her low effort. Still 5-0.
80’: Make that 6! It starts from the right back position, finds itself over to Greene over on the left, who can give Woodhouse a tap in
85’: Horrocks commanding her box well and starting the attack as Greene can’t quite get onto a low cross into the six yard box
88’: Horrocks make up for her poorly executed goal kick as she holds onto a shot from range after giving away possession.
91': Another Reds break away through the middle, out to the left and ball fizzed across for Csomer to pass into the net at the back post 7-0
FULL TIME! And that’s that down at Oakwell Academy as we come back to action with a 7-0 victory over Ossett United Ladies FC
A good run out after a month with no competitive action. Plenty of minutes for everybody!
