Early start as the Reds travelled North for their Women FA cup 2nd round qualifier against Blyth Town Ladies. but they we ready and looking sharp with 2 debutants on the bench.
1’: Game underway here and Myles plays in a ball to the back post which turns into more of a shot. Just wide. 0-0.
3’: Foye shows tenacity and wins the ball back 30 yds from the Blyth goal, and is tripped straight after. She steps up to take the free kick, but the left footed effort goes over.
5’: It’s Foye again as Cheetham’s attempted ball over the top drops to Foye, but her left footed attempt is over the bar.
7’: Barnsley work the ball well from the back as Greene cuts in from the left to find Tugby in space, who floats a ball over the top to Smith, giving Pierrepont a tap in. 1-0.
8’: And just like that, it’s 2-0! Csomor finishes off a one-two to double our lead early on
11’: Foye wins another FK and delivers from the right-centre. It finds a Blyth head and Csomor gets onto it but rolls it wide.
15’: Captain Smith drives from the halfway line and rides a couple of challenges before slipping Pierrepont in, but she hits over. 2-0.
17’: Csomor persists and is right to do so as the goalkeeper spills the ball, but a Blyth defender gets back in time to deny her.
18’: Myles curls a through-ball into Greene, who puts her foot through it but it goes just over.
22’: Shouts of handball against a Blyth defender but nothing given. There’s a stoppage here as one of the balls are deflated.
37’: Tugby shows her quick feet as she cuts back onto her left and beats the ‘keeper. 0-3.
38’: Another nice move as Barraclough gives it to Pierrepont, who holds it up well and gives it Greene. She hits it first time but the GK does well.
45’: Smith picks her head up and hits a rocket from 30 yds. 0-4.
45+1’: Foye looks up from a similar range to Smith’s goal and hits one with whip, but the Blyth stopper stands tall.
HALF TIME | Reds lead this Vitality WFACup tie 0-4 and have shown some promising spells. More of the same needed for the second half

Second half underway here as Nowell comes on for her debut, in place of Cheetham.
48’: First corner of the game for Blyth as Boyes gets down to deny the goal.
52’: Smith has the ball on the edge of the box but hits it over the bar. Still 0-4.
54’: Substitution Watson comes on for Foye.
57’: Nowell puts in an excellent tackle in the 18 yard box and sets off an attack. Pierrepont finds Greene, who cuts in but can only find the goalkeeper
60’: Fantastic goal from Nowell! The debutant rises highest from the corner and heads in. 0-5.
65’: Substitution. Schofield is for her debut also, replacing the injured Tugby
66’: Pierrepont persists & chases the ball, putting the goalkeeper under pressure. She plays it right to Pierrepont but momentum means it goes back to the stopper.
71’: Schofield picks up the ball and sprays it wide to Myles, but she can only find the side netting.
74’: A Blyth free kick is met after their attacker is left free, but she puts it wide. 0-5.
79’: Myles’ cross looks destined to find the back of the net but a Blyth defender throws her body on the line, on the goal line!
88’: Some nice play from Blyth but the forward hits from range and sends it over. 0-5.
89’: Pierrepont whips in a great ball and finds Smith’s head. It’s a great connection but the goalkeeper pulls off an excellent stop.
