The Reds performed League Cup Success in a West Midlands Scorcher

The Team arrived at the Wolverhampton University Performance Hub relaxed and in style courtesy of Yorkshire Rose coaches.

With the temperature already reaching 28 degrees the teams warmed up

Then the teams took to the fields for this predetermining round of the FW Womens National League cup game.

The Game got underway with no real chances in the opening exchanges until the 8th min when WBA had a free-kick comfortably saved by Bethan Davies
14' A Reds corner is whipped in but cleared by WBA
15' WBA break and their No10 has a go from 20 yards out but it is another routine save for Bethan Davies
17' The Reds feel hugely aggrieved after having a strong appeal for handball waved away by the Referee, perhaps a lapse of concentration as WBA break and the ball is pulled back into the Reds penalty area where their striker Trina Greaves is on hand to hit it first time into the top corner of the goal 1-0.
22' Sophie Crosby forces and excellent save from the WBA keeper, the resulting corner is cleared.
28' Brilliant stuff from Darcie Greene as she dances through the defenders and only a last ditch challenge prevents a goal.
29' From the corner Lucy Turner gets her header on goal, was it over the line? the Referee says it didn't cross the line and that's what counts, what do you think?

58' WBA hits one from distance after a restart caused by the ball hitting the referee, Lucy Turner deflects it but Bethan Davies is alert to it and routinely saves.
61' Beautiful work from the Reds as Sophie Bell, Kathryn Smith, Lissa Woodhouse, Lindsey Tugby and Drew Greene are all involved as they press forward with one touch football to work an opportunity, but Drew Greene is crowded out and her shot is just wide.

Full-Time: A deserved win for the Reds in the blazing heat. Sophie Bell wrapping it up late when WBA were stating to knock on the door. Reds progress to the next round where they may meet Sunderland Ladies
