On Cloud 9, Reds through to next round of FA WNL Plate and make it 9 games unbeaten from 6

After an overnight stay the Reds arrived at Morda FC as the sun broke through the Shropshire skies just outside Oswestry. The pitch was heavy and positively soggy in places so fitness would be tested.



Lucy Turner lost the toss so it was Barnsley Ladies FC who got this FA WNL Plate underway kicking down the slight slope. Don’t blink as 20 seconds in to the game Lucy Turner hit a long ball up the right wing which Lissa Woodhouse latched on to and hit a cross into the goal area which the New Saints keeper got her hands to but not securely as it squeezed through and dribbled over the goal line just inside the far post despite the sliding efforts of a defender to clear. 0-1 Barnsley.
3 mins Amy Woodruff set up Lissa Woodhouse who hit a snap shot from the right edge of the area which rebounded off the base of the goal keeper’s right hand post.
7 mins Rebecca Hornsey won the ball on half way, played back to Annie Ward who hit long over the top of the TNS defence for Amy Woodruff to run onto but the goal keeper was out sharply to gather.
10 min 20s Sophie Crosby under pressure at left back played a clearance ball up the left wing to Darcie Greene (sponsored by iVision), she rode through an attempted block tackle by TNS No7 and progressed one on one with the keeper in the penalty area, calmly passing the ball round her and in to the net inside the right hand post, 0-2 Barnsley.
13 min Sophie Bell broke down the right before crossing but the goal keeper cleared away.
15 min after the first TNS attack was smothered by Skye Kirkham coming out sharply to gather, her goal kick was headed backwards by TNS midfielder through to Amy Woodruff, she played Lissa Woodhouse through but she hit the ball over the cross bar
16 min Kathryn Smith dinked a ball into the TNS penalty area through to Amy Woodruff whose low shot forced the keeper into a good save out for a corner. Sophie Crosby took the corner from the right to the back post where Annie Ward (sponsored by LSH Productions) headed into the net, 0-3 Barnsley.
19 min Darcie Greene crossed in from the left goal line into the six yard area causing a scramble with defenders throwing themselves to block shots by Kathryn Smith, Lissa Woodhouse and Drew Greene as appeals for handball were waved away as TNS cleared the ball away.
24 min Skye Kirkham came out to clear up field into Amy Woodruff who headed onto Sophie Bell, she beat her defender on the outside before crossing just behind Lissa Woodhouse, a TNS defender cleared out only as far as Rebecca Hornsey whose shot back in was gathered by the Keeper.
27 min TNS throw from the right wing was crossed into the Barnsley penalty area where Annie Ward headed it out to the end of the area where their No19 shot low but Skye Kirkham was down quickly to her right to save.
29 min Darcie Greene passed forward into the left wing channel where Lissa Woodhouse gathered to cross deep to Sophie Bell coming into the back post but she headed just wide.
34 min TNS attack into the right of the Barnsley penalty area was broken down by a strong shoulder from Sophie Crosby to win the ball back cleanly and then clear up field.
36 min Barnsley throw from the left wing was headed on and into the TNS area where a defender played it back to the keeper who was put under pressure by Amy Woodruff and the clearance ball ricocheted off her and out for a goal kick.
37 min good play from Darcie Greene on the left side of the TNS penalty area bamboozled two TNS defenders before she laid the ball back to Kathryn Smith. She drove direct into the penalty area before shooting over the cross bar.
39 min TNS were starting to build a little pressure which resulted in one attack into the box which Skye Kirkham came out for to see the ball pushed past her with both her and the attacked sucked into the mud by the penalty area, however there was not enough pace on the ball and Annie Ward was able to recover and clear away.
40 min Kathryn Smith brought the ball out of deep midfield before finding Drew Greene just inside the TNS half who passed out right into the right wing channel where Sophie Bell was defend out well by TNS for a goal kick.
42 min Caution for TNS No7 as she brought Darcie Greene down just outside the left side of the penalty area. Up stepped Rebecca Hornsey (sponsored by LSH Productions) to hit the free kick up and over the wall to score in the top left, 0-4 Barnsley.
45 min TNS were awarded a free kick outside the right penalty area following a foul by Rebecca Hornsey, Lucy Turner cleared the ball away and Barnsley broke forward but TNS keeper came out to clear the ball away and the Referee whistled for the end of the half. 46 min played and a great lively start by the Reds.
46 min Barnsley substitution for Sophie Crosby with Mollie Crump (sponsored by Carmel) coming on at right back with Sophie Bell moving to right wing, Darcie Greene dropping to left back and the midfield shuffling across.
47 min Kathryn Smith won the ball back yet again in midfield to play a pass through to the edge of the penalty area which Sophie Bell managed to get to just before the keeper but it dribbled just wide of the left hand post.
48 min Sophie Bell broke free on the right wing before crossing into Lissa Woodhouse but the TNS keeper came out to save with her right hand.
49 min Darcie Greene breaking out from defence was fouled 10 yards inside the TNS half, Rebecca Hornsey lifted the ball into the area but it was cleared away.
56 min Darcie Greene won the ball in the defensive left corner, she played up to Lissa Woodhouse on the halfway who held it up before playing back to Kathryn Smith who hit a lovely cross field pass into Drew Greene breaking forward on the right. She took it to the goal line before crossing but the keeper gathered safely.
57 min Mollie Crump drove the ball forward up the right wing all the way to the goal line before crossing into the box but it was cleared away
58 min TNS had a rare corner but it was headed clear by Annie Ward.
58 min TNS substitution with No7 replaced by No8.
58 min Barnsley cross from the left by Sophie Bell came to Amy Woodruff but her shot was saved by the keeper around the right post.
60 min TNS substitution with No21 coming on
61 min Lissa Woodhouse from the edge of the penalty area hit a low shot and despite the keeper reacting to get down to make a half save, it squeezed under her body and into the right corner of the goal. 0-5 Barnsley.
62 min Lissa Woodhouse was put through the middle by Amy Woodruff, but she hit her shot over the crossbar
63 min TNS free-kick from just inside the Barnsley half was defended calmly away by Lucy Turner on the edge of her box. She found Mollie Crump who played forward to Kathryn Smith breaking up the right channel. She whipped in a cross but it was just too high and fast for the stretching head of Amy Woodruff.
68 min Darcie Greene was allowed to break forward from halfway, eluding the defence the keeper stayed tall to block her shot away.
69 min substitutions for both sides as Kathryn Smith departed to be replaced by Rebecca Fevers.
69 min 50s Sophie Bell broke up the right wing before crossing into the penalty area where Amy Woodruff (sponsored by BB Motorsport) headed into the goal, 0-6 Barnsley.
71 min 50s Darcie Greene and Amy Woodruff played a couple of one-twos to break up the left wing, Amy crossed into Lissa Woodhouse to score her hat-trick, 0-7 Barnsley.
73 min Emily Ward (sponsored by Mila Maintenance) came on at left back for Lissa Woodhouse with Darcie Greene moving back to left wing.
74 min 43s Darcie Greene hit a high hanging cross from the left into the area where Amy Woodruff (sponsored by BB Motorsport) headed in from five yards out into the top right, 0-8 Barnsley.
79 min 50s Rebecca Fevers played a lovely through ball which Sophie Bell ran onto and into the area before playing through the legs of the Keeper as she came out to close her down, 0-9 Barnsley
87 min Darcie Greene passed into Amy Woodruff but as she tried to play her through ball to Sophie Bell it was blocked away.
91 min Whistle went for full –time and the Reds progress through to the next round of the FA WNL Plate where they look like they will face Liverpool Feds who beat Chester le Street.
