On a warm day the Ladies took to the Oakwell 4G to see if they could start to gel as a new side with quite a lot of last year's team on show but also some debuts to new players Becks, Lissa, Elizabeth, Annie, Skye, Sophie, Frankie and Jess. Guiseley Vixens also fielded a mix of trialists, 1st team and reserves, but pre-season is all about learning about self and each other and developing the team knowledge to build a good foundation for the season ahead.
Thank you to the supporters in both the stands and on the steps, the game was fairly open with Barnsley FC Ladies creating most of the chances. With goals for Lissa and 25 yard shot from Amy Woodruffe Barnsley deserved the lead at half-time.
The second half was a little bit tighter but still Barnsley were the stronger side and the pre-season fitness work was encouraging to see. Guiseley Vixens did create a couple of chances late on but nothing that Barnsley could not deal with on the day.
Thank you Guiseley Vixens for the friendly and Barnsley FC Ladies wish you well for the season ahead.
Burton Albion come to Oakwell next Sunday, will you?
