Barnsley Women FC Reserves vs Wolverhampton Wanderers Development

Lovely to see our Reserves team supported by our U9's at Oakwell as the Reds Reserves took on Wolverhampton Wanderers in the FA Women's National Reserve Plate Competition.

With First team manager and team watching there was nothing much between the sides in the first 18 mins, although Wolverhampton's physicality was causing some handling errors and Reserves were forced into an early change.
19' Against the run of play Wolverhampton Wanderers take the lead. 0-1
40' Reds had been knocking on the door and Fantastic effort from Emily Pierrepoint smashes against the woodwork. Still 1 nil down but the Reds are dominating proceedings.
45' On the stroke of half time and completely against the run of play Wolves double their lead.

Half-time and Santa popped down to Oakwell, who knew he was a goal keeper

Back to the action 47' Brilliant ball through by Lauryn Wilcock sends Emily Pierrepoint clear but her first time shot goes wide.
56' Wolves capitalise on a mix up in the Barnsley defence to make it 0-3.
Wolves get another one late on to come away with the win 0-4.
The scoreline flattered Wolves a bit as the Reds more than matched them for much of the game but just couldn't find the finishing touch. It means the reds are out of the plate but with the County Cup & league still in sight there's still plenty to look forward to in the New Year.
