A good pre-season work out, but already impacted by injury.

As the teams lined up at Oakwell, it was clear that the Bradford City Ladies Reserves was a younger side to their first team who had played and defeated Barnsley FC Ladies the week before, so were not to be underestimated.
It was an evenly contested first 15 mins with no team fashioning any goal bound threat, that was before from a Barnsley corner in the 18th minute Emily picked out Alayna at the edge of the penalty area, her first time shot being gathered safely by the goal keeper.
Then after 28 mins Kath won the ball back in midfield and held off a couple of challenges to play a through ball to Alayna, who one on one with the goal keeper calmly took it around her to score 1-0 Barnsley.
39th min Emma put pressure on the Bradford defender in the corner of the field which allowed Chloe to intercept the weak clearance, she held off a defender and drove into the box before lobbing the goal keeper, 2-0 Barnsley and Bradford were not expecting this, they regrouped at the 1st break with the game being played as 3 periods of 30 minutes.
47th min Bradford played a through ball to their No9, Charlotte managing to get an out stretch toe to the ball but also took the player in the penalty area, Bradford scored from the awarded penalty kick. 2-1 Barnsley.
51st min Bradford No 17 sped onto a through ball out running Charlotte for once to close in on goal and shoot passed Kristie in the Barnsley goal. 2-2
71st min Bradford No 6, their strongest player won the ball back in midfield before playing a through ball to the No 11 who scored to the left hand side of Kristie. 2-3 Bradford.
73rd minute Kirsty won and then took a free kick just outside the centre circle in the Bradford half. She struck the ball superbly into the top corner of the net over and out of reach of the Bradford keeper 3-3
81st minute Kayleigh took a corner which the Bradford No 16 diverted into their goal over their keeper. 4-3 Barnsley
86th Bradford took a free kick short and drove at the Mel in the Barnsley defence beating her for speed, the striker shot and found the top right of the net 4-4 Barnsley.
Final Whistle 4-4 and a fair result which the spectators enjoyed. It was a strong test and a pleasing performance to see the Barnsley team continue to press and play to the final whistle, the only sad sight from the game was to see Brogan limp off after turning badly and feeling something odd in her ankle, fearing ligament damage it has now been diagnosed as a fracture, Get well soon Brogan.
Next match is against Dearne & District who have set up an open age team for the coming season.
