It was another home game for the Reds as they looked to get 2026 back on track following three straight defeats. A potential banana skin awaited as Lincoln Women were the visitors to the Steel City Stadium.
The Reds were on the front foot from minute one and after a couple of corners and coming close from a Jemima Jarvis free kick, we finally took the lead in the 8th minute when a great corner from JJ found Jodie Snelson who fired home from close range.
It could and should have been two, when a great ball in from Amber Sewell found the head of Charlotte Stuart who, from a distance found her header creep agonisingly wide.
Just minutes later another lovely move from Amber Sewell found Summer Reece whose cross found Jodie Snelson which went centimetres wide.
We finally made it two when a great ball in from Jemima Jarvis found the head of Millie Fugler, who made no mistake in making it three for the season. Our Head of Media can breathe a sigh of relief now as Millie has finally scored since creating her goal gif. Shouts of ‘Well Done Mildred’ can be heard in the stands post goal.
Another couple of chances followed through Jodie Snelson and Faith Horner as the Reds were really in their flow and a couple of good saves stopping us going further ahead.
In the 22nd minute a scintillating move from Amber Sewell and Charlotte Stuart saw the latter’s effort blocked.
It was attack after attack and on the half hour mark a lovely ball from Freya Walton found Amber Sewell who raced onto the ball and fired just wide.
Frustrated by the fact it was only two, the Reds then found another breakthrough. Another exceptional ball in from Jemima Jarvis found Charlotte Stuart force the Lincoln defender to turn it into their own net. (I would give it to Chaz but rules are rules!)
It looked as the the constant attacking would see the Reds go in three up at the break. Ocean Rolandsen had other ideas.
A lovely run from Amber Sewell saw he find Ocean Rolandsen who dropped the shoulder to get into space before smashing it in from 25 yards out.
Half Time- The Reds 4-0 Lincoln. In truth it could and should have been 5 or 6.
The start of the Second Half saw a return to action for Tanya Fozzard after a lengthy period out, it was very much as you were with the Reds continuing to attack the opposition, with corner after corner and a shot from Charlotte Stuart which was saved well.
There was a brief moment for the opposition when a brilliant corner found the visitors with a free header, but it was brilliantly saved by Bean Clarke and then cleared by Freya Walton.
The Reds then looked to add more to the afternoon and after a brilliant move, Charlotte Stuart, through on goal, saw Amber Sewell bombing forward and played it perfectly for Sewell to bury the ball into the corner to make it 5-0.
Five was nearly Six seconds later when a great ball by Amber Sewell nearly found Charlotte Stuart, a constant threat.
It was 6-0 after 65 minutes when a lovely turn looked to get the goal Charlotte Stuart deserved but it crashed the post and Jemima Jarvis was there to fire home, making it a goal and three assists for the afternoon.
Manager Craige Richardson rang the changes, giving minutes to Olivia Richardson and Alivia Chambers, replacing the excellent Charlotte Stuart and Summer Reece.
After more pressure, it was 7-0. A brilliant team move found Tanya Fozzard who found Olivia Richardson perfectly and Liv made no mistake and buried it cooly.
The game finished 7-0. A lot of positives to take into our next game, a county cup fixture away at Doncaster.
Unit’s thoughts- The ladies were in great spirits pre-match and it showed on the pitch. Every player made an impact, Seven goals, a clean sheet and some much needed confidence to build on.
