Congratulations to all the players who played in the First team last season, especially the 2nd half when the team stayed focused and played right up to the final whistle to scrape the draw and gain a point, Just like the Newcastle game, which lifted them off the bottom of the league table on the final day of the season.
Steve Maddocks confirmed last night that he has been informed that by 1 goal Barnsley FC Ladies have avoided being relegated, at the expense of Mossley Hill Ladies FC.
First season ever in the WPL Northern Division 1 was certainly a learning experience for Coaches and players alike and one that can now be built upon in readiness for the launch of the new tier 3 & 4 structure in the Women's game called the FA Women's National League , where Barnsley FC Ladies will be in Division 1 North when the fixtures are announced in July with the first game expected to be on the 19th August.
So well done to this lot: , good luck and thanks to Ian Clarke and Mike Eracleous as they move on and stay posted for announcements about the new management team and pre-season training & fixtures.
You REDS!!!!!
